Reading characters on complex media (tires)
The need
To develop a sensor for reading the lettering engraved on the sidewall of new or used tires, with a view to automatic sorting and recycling. These characters are black on a black background, with an arched inscription.
Our value proposition
The development of high-performance, innovative algorithms was made possible by the use of a camera and appropriate lighting, producing qualitative images. Conventional solutions (OCR) have not demonstrated sufficient performance to consider their use. The characters were black on a black background, and aligned not on a straight line, but on a circle, requiring the implementation of a customized AI to meet the industrial performance requirements imposed by the customer.
